Richard A. Zelkowitz MS, R.Ph., FASCP

President

RZ-PhotoMr. Zelkowitz earned his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Columbia University. While working as a hospital pharmacist, he attended St. John’s University where he earned a Master’s of Science degree in Institutional Pharmacy Practice. He was awarded a Fellowship from the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists for maintaining the highest standards in Consultant Pharmacy, demonstrating an extraordinary level of service and in professional practice activities.

Mr. Zelkowitz joined Pharmacon in 1983 as a part-time Consultant Pharmacist while working at Cabrini Medical Center in Manhattan as Assistant Director of Pharmacy. He quickly took on consulting full-time, advancing to Vice President and to President of Pharmacon. He is now one of the principal owners of Pharmacon. In addition to managing the day to day operations of the company, Mr. Zelkowitz has lectured extensively on topics ranging from Medication Administration Techniques to the Department of Health Survey Process. He has also held the position of Adjunct Clinical Instructor of Pharmacy at Long Island University College of Pharmacy.

Outside of his devoted pharmaceutical career, Mr. Zelkowitz is a member of several voluntary organizations and enjoys spending family time with his wife, children and grandchildren.


William J. Lyons, R.Ph., CGP

Vice President

BL-PhotoMr.  Lyons earned his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from St. John’s University.

After several years of Hospital Pharmacy experience he became the first pharmacist hired by the Hebrew Home for the Aged at Riverdale to conduct Drug Regimen Reviews for their facilities.  This started a long career in long-term care pharmacy practice.  He went on from there at a young age to become co-founder of Pharmacon Corp.

He has achieved Fellowship status in the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, earned certification from the Harvard Medical School Division on Aging and has advanced to level of Certified Geriatric Pharmacist.

William has lectured for multiple LTC associations and facilities on Geriatric, Pharmaceutical and regulatory topics and has been published in Provider magazine.

Outside of career, he is devoted to his family, active in church activities, enjoys skiing, golf and music (piano, organ).
